Adam is quitting Homeschooling!

So, is he stoked about no longer being home schooled? Or is he stoked to be entering the ALBUQUERQUE ACADEMY???? The later, of course.

He did such a great job on his testing and apparently had all the right answers during his interview. I can't believe this opportunity that has opened up for him. He is definitely concerned to not lose touch with his home schooled friends, but we won't let that happen. We are always home schoolers at heart.

Adam's mom is still beaming and still comes near to tears when she thinks of how proud she is of him!

You go kiddo!

Two birds with one stone...

Here is a sweet picture of Allison. Although Adam or Ian took the picture to showcase their Lego robot. So there we have it...two birds, one picture.

Jason Turned 4 Today!

Our littlest is now 4 years old. He is not so little anymore. It is amazing how time flies! Here is a super cute picture of him. He recently got a new pair of glasses. Not sure that they will improve his vision, but aren't they fashionable?

Ian turned 6 yesterday!

For Ian's birthday, as with all Salazar birthdays, I made an Ice Cream cake. This one looked particularly pretty.

Also, he has 2 loose teeth. If you look closely at this picture of him, you can see how the two on the bottom are crooked.

I can't believe my little Ian is growing up!

Then comes Christmas...

This Christmas was a boom for the kids. We bought WAY TOO MUCH!! They received numerous Lego sets, several games, Transformers, train tracks...I'm sure there are many things I am forgetting.

Adam said a couple of times that he was having trouble figuring out what to play with, and his indecision was making him bored! Poor kid.

Solstice 2010

This year was the first in a long time that Justin and I did not have to work the day of the winter solstice. We made cupcakes that had sun shapes in them. Yum! We took a short trek in the foothills and watched the sun set. We got a great family game that was a lot of fun to play (although, we cannot agree on proper pronunciation of the game's name: Carcassonne). And we just had a really nice day at home together as a family.

We are happy that the sun is now swinging back towards our favorite season: Summer!

More Adam

I just wanted to post this picture of Adam with his sculpture. He was so proud. And he looks so sweet.

But I also really like the hot glue dripping from the mouth area of his spider!

Halloween 2010!

Usually, we try to make the kids costumes for Halloween each year. I'll post some old ones, if I can find them. But this year we went the lazy route: a Star Wars storm trooper and bounty hunter, and a queen (in this picture, a vampire queen).

Now Jason regularly sports a Spiderman costume (a hand-me-down from some friends), and also, from a couple of years ago, his "Blue J" costume -another super hero (his own). So he decided to go all out and dress as Superman!

They had a wonderful time, as always. You can't lose when candy, haunted houses, and friends are involved.

Adam's sculpture

Adam made this sculpture at our home school art class. The class explores a different style every month. But even though this month we were studying Dadaist art (which is somewhat political or statement oriented), Adam made this supper cool spider sculpture. Although I think it's more like a praying mantis. No statement, other than his love of nature.

Allison's new skirt

Allison and I had some girl time recently and we bought her this pretty pink skirt. She is very proud of it and when we got home, she got all dressed up (notice grandma's jewelry).

Then she did a dance with Ian...

I call it "Ballet de Allison and Ian" with a short called "Jason's Ouchie" in the middle.

Adam's Costume, Part II

Regarding my last post...Adam did not go for it! Oh, well. It was worth a try. He said it was too much work.

But he likes that I posted it.

Adam's Costume

This year in school, one project that Adam had to complete was a costume of a vocabulary word of his choice. He chose the word "desolate." I am really hoping that after posting these pictures, Adam will allow me to throw this space taking costume away. Thank you Adam!

A visit from Grandpa John comes to it's end!

So Grandpa John came to visit this last week. We were so busy having fun that I forgot to take a SINGLE picture!! So seven hours after his plane left Albuquerque, I took this picture! Hopefully they will only cry for a FEW days!

Adam and Allison's Piano Recitals

Adam has been taking piano lessons for two years now. And Allison has completed her first year of lessons. They take classes at the University of NM. It is a lot of fun spending time every week on campus with them. Their teacher is very engaging and entertaining, but also keeps the entire class in line. She is a great teacher!

Inside JJ's Pizza

I know we've been open now for nearly a year (on August 11th!) in our new location. But I am fulfilling obligations to various out of town family members and friends! You guys really need to come see it in person!

So this is our dining room. It is very red! The windows make it so bright & we have added plants here and there. This picture shows the tile very nicely. We looked & looked & looked more at so much tile & kept coming back to this combination. It looks so great. Don't you think?

We are working on covering the front patio area. It is slowly coming together. We are still working nearly every single day, making pizzas.

We are also trying to host live music on Fridays. The musicians seem to enjoy it, even though the audience is somewhat sporadic.

Long time, no blog...

So I was just glancing at my last post, which was of Ian. It makes me think about how Justin just shaved all of Ian's sweet little boy hair off (it now matches Adam's & Justin's). Gone is my little boy, here comes big, strong, growing up IAN!! I'll post pictures someday.

Right now Justin, Adam, and Allison are camping in the Jemez Mountains. It's their last chance before Adam returns to school. I have to work at JJ's, so no camping for me. Ian went with them several weeks ago, but this time chose to stay with me and Jason (and Grandma).

Otherwise, it's the same old, same old...

Sending love out to all our family & friends!!!

Ian

Ian takes such great pictures. He is so handsome and sweet.

Whee!!
