Ian turned 6 yesterday!
For Ian's birthday, as with all Salazar birthdays, I made an Ice Cream cake. This one looked particularly pretty.
Also, he has 2 loose teeth. If you look closely at this picture of him, you can see how the two on the bottom are crooked.
I can't believe my little Ian is growing up!
Then comes Christmas...
This Christmas was a boom for the kids. We bought WAY TOO MUCH!! They received numerous Lego sets, several games, Transformers, train tracks...I'm sure there are many things I am forgetting.
Adam said a couple of times that he was having trouble figuring out what to play with, and his indecision was making him bored! Poor kid.
Solstice 2010
This year was the first in a long time that Justin and I did not have to work the day of the winter solstice. We made cupcakes that had sun shapes in them. Yum! We took a short trek in the foothills and watched the sun set. We got a great family game that was a lot of fun to play (although, we cannot agree on proper pronunciation of the game's name: Carcassonne). And we just had a really nice day at home together as a family.
We are happy that the sun is now swinging back towards our favorite season: Summer!

More Adam
Halloween 2010!
Usually, we try to make the kids costumes for Halloween each year. I'll post some old ones, if I can find them. But this year we went the lazy route: a Star Wars storm trooper and bounty hunter, and a queen (in this picture, a vampire queen).
Now Jason regularly sports a Spiderman costume (a hand-me-down from some friends), and also, from a couple of years ago, his "Blue J" costume -another super hero (his own). So he decided to go all out and dress as Superman!
They had a wonderful time, as always. You can't lose when candy, haunted houses, and friends are involved.
Adam's sculpture
Adam made this sculpture at our home school art class. The class explores a different style every month. But even though this month we were studying Dadaist art (which is somewhat political or statement oriented), Adam made this supper cool spider sculpture. Although I think it's more like a praying mantis. No statement, other than his love of nature.

Allison's new skirt
Allison and I had some girl time recently and we bought her this pretty pink skirt. She is very proud of it and when we got home, she got all dressed up (notice grandma's jewelry).
Then she did a dance with Ian...
I call it "Ballet de Allison and Ian" with a short called "Jason's Ouchie" in the middle.

Adam's Costume, Part II
Regarding my last post...Adam did not go for it! Oh, well. It was worth a try. He said it was too much work.
But he likes that I posted it.

Adam and Allison's Piano Recitals
Adam has been taking piano lessons for two years now. And Allison has completed her first year of lessons. They take classes at the University of NM. It is a lot of fun spending time every week on campus with them. Their teacher is very engaging and entertaining, but also keeps the entire class in line. She is a great teacher!
